Welcome to Physics 141-142 Lab!


In order to prepare yourself for the first day of Lab, please read the following Information regarding Lab.



MANUAL

You will need to purchase a Physics 141-142 Laboratory Manual, 19th edition, before you come to the first Lab. This Manual will have everything you will need for Physics 141-142 Laboratory. Laboratory Manuals may be purchased at the Emory University Bookstore in the DUC.



RESCHEDULING

During Summer sessions there is no rescheduling! If you miss a lab there will be a make up session at the end of the semester.



INSTRUCTORS

The instructor assignments are posted so that you can easily contact your instructor.



SCHEDULE

A schedule of all the labs for the semester is posted online and on the bulletin board outside the lab rooms. Please refer to this schedule if you have questions about when you will be doing a specific Lab.




GRADING POLICY

The Lab Grade is based upon the following:

  • Pre-lab Quizzes: 15%
  • Reports: 55%
  • Performance Exam: 25%
  • Instructor Evaluation: 5%


PRE-LAB QUIZZES

All students are required to complete a pre-lab quiz before the first Lab. To take a Pre-Lab Quiz, click on the Pre-Lab Quiz Button at the left of your screen. You will then be directed through a login process which must be complete before you can take a pre-lab quiz.


The pre-lab quizzes MUST be done one hour before your lab time. When you submit your pre-lab quiz, it will be graded electronically. Your grade will show up on your screen and also be emailed to you. Keep the email grade report in case you have any questions about your grade. This grade will also be given to your lab instructor.



REPORTS

Each student will complete and submit a report for each Lab. All work must be shown for any calculations made during Lab.


Your reports are due at the end of the Lab period. They will be graded and returned to you at the next week's Lab.



PERFORMANCE EXAM

A Performance Exam is given at the end of every Semester. Students will receive more information concerning the Exam towards the end of the Semester.



INSTRUCTOR EVALUATION

The Instructor Evaluation grade is determined by your attendance, performance and participation in Lab.
